By Ghulam Mohyuddin Wani

My birth place {PREFACE SUBMITTED YESTERDAY AND REVISED HERE FOR CONTINUATY OF THE DESCRIPTION AND UNDERSTANDING )

They were born in a small village ,deep in the Hamaliyan woods,Once only sparrows and quils used to inhabit the area,The area had a thick forests around its upper hilly terrain and the bushes and dense trees used to appear a woody environment.Large chinara around a spring of fresh water used to give a scred appearance.Few centuries ago some saint had rested here for few days and prayed God in isolation. The whole areas gave a inspiring look even when the two were born .By then a mosque has been built by the villagers around this shrine called by as Dedbabsahib. This was a place where old ladies shall bring omans and distribute free rice cooked with garlic called as taher in the name of God but its distribution was here underneath a big Chinar tree,All those dead used to be buried in and around this nomans land which spread on few hectares,By the time two were gronw up to remember the events much of it was grabed by the greedy in the area and it was only half of the original land demarcated there. They remembered the tussel between a man who had fortunes and the rest of the villages on a piece of land .

The village had four sections ,the khawajas or the joos now called as wanis. They were most read and bussinesss persons of the village. They had come from the village Pattan .The history could not be traced whether it was the patten few kms from Srinagar or from the Pattan near Abitabad in route to Gilgit.Quite often the rest of the tribes of the village used to tauant us as Jews.It was said we are the forgotten tribe of Isreal commonly known as “verlorene tribe”.I can put forth the genology upto few generation which I recored in my dairy notes from one of the uncle, who had the distinction of obtaining first division in middle in those days and it was he who bult a knowledge center in this village during his early days.He was very learned and had many verses of Iqbal and others learnt by heart.

I Love French Wine and Food – A Rhone Valley Rose

Given the terrible Artic temperatures in our part of the world, I figured why not review a well-known rose wine from the Rhone Valley region of southeastern France. This beautiful area ranks second in acreage of France’s eleven wine-growing regions. The region runs some 200 kilometers (125) miles along the Rhone River. The northern part is really narrow. Its major white variety is Viognier and major red grape variety is Syrah. This area produces some of the best red wines in all France, and if you ask partisans some of the world’s best red wines. But the north produces only about 5% of the total Rhone Valley production. Wine in the southern Rhone Valley tends to be blended. For example, the wine reviewed below comes from three different grapes.

Tavel is a village of about 1500 people located near some great vineyards, not far from the cities of Avignon and Nimes, and an hour’s drive from the Mediterranean. But you don’t have to leave the village for interesting sights. Sights in the old town center include a Tenth Century Chapel (Saint-Ferreol), the village church and fountain, and the Chemin de la Condamine. There’s a vineyard route and you’re not far from the largest sundial in Europe. Just a bit of wine trivia; Tavel is the one French wine appellation that’s allowed to make only rose wine.
